How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Laser skin resurfacing with Pixel® focuses laser energy through special optics that tightly control its intensity. The Pixel® laser creates tiny areas of microdamage no thicker than a few sheets of paper. These areas effectively trigger new collagen production without the deeper channels created by other treatment methods.
Pixel® also signals skin cells surrounding the areas of microdamage to produce healing and growth factors. As your skin sheds the dull, damaged outer layers after treatment, you will see healthy new cells rise to the surface. This process helps erase pigmentation issues and smooth uneven skin.
What to Expect After Laser Skin Resurfacing
Your Pixel® treatment will usually take 30 to 60 minutes. You can leave immediately afterward, but your skin will be red, sensitive, and slightly swollen. This redness can last for several days, depending on the intensity of your treatment, and you may prefer to avoid social activities for a day or two while it fades. You will also notice your skin peeling or developing crusts for a few days before healing.
Most people benefit from three to five treatment sessions. We space these three to four weeks apart to give your skin enough time to recover fully. Pigmentation and textural issues may require fewer treatments than lines, wrinkles, or acne scarring. Most people make good candidates for Pixel® laser skin resurfacing. You may be a good candidate if you want to see dramatic results with less downtime than similar treatments. Like most laser treatments, Pixel® is not recommended if you are pregnant or have a skin infection in the treatment area.
