What is an IPL Photofacial?

Are you bothered by pigmentation issues, uneven skin tone, and signs of sun damage? An IPL photofacialrejuvenates the skin and fades red or brown spots. This effective treatment provides clearer, younger-looking skin so you can stop trying to cover your freckles or redness for good.

What is an IPL Photofacial?

An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial is a form of laser treatment that uses a wider range of wavelengths than most lasers. The pulses of light travel through the layers of skin to break up unwanted pigmentation.Because the light causes no injury to the epidermis, a photofacial requires little to no downtime. Treatment with an IPL photofacial is often called photorejuvenation due to its powerful anti-aging effects.

How Does an IPL Photofacial Work?

At Rejuve Med-Spa, we offer the Harmony®XL system for IPL photofacial treatments. The energy from this laser travels into the skin, where it targets molecules of red and brown pigmentation. The pigment molecules absorb the energy, damaging them and breaking them down. Your body clears away damaged pigment molecules, leaving your skin smooth and clear. This light does not affect cells unless they contain unwanted pigments.

What Can an IPL Photofacial Treat?

We use IPL photofacials to treat a range of skin concerns. Unlike many other light-based treatments, a photofacial even works on skin conditions like rosacea. Your photofacial improves these issues and many others:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Freckles
  • Melasma
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Redness from acne or acne scarring
  • Broken capillaries
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Fine lines

We recommend a consultation if you have questions about whether an IPL photofacial can achieve your desired results. Some people may benefit from more than one type of treatment.Rejuve Med-Spa customizes every person’s treatment plan to address all their concerns and help them achieve their goals.

Is There Any Downtime After a Photofacial?

The light energy from an IPL photofacial causes no damage to the epidermis. As a result, you will not need any downtime. You can return to your usual activities immediately. Using sun protection before and after treatment will protect your skin from UV damage. Minor redness after treatment usually fades in less than an hour.

How Many IPL Photofacial Treatments Will I Need?

Many people notice that their skin looks brighter and refreshed after one IPL photofacial treatment. Most people benefit from three to five treatment sessions three to four weeks apart. You can help your results last longer with good skincare and sun protection, but most people will need occasional maintenance treatments to address any new pigmentation issues that appear. These maintenance treatments can also keep skin smooth, even, and youthful.

Am I a Good Candidate for an IPL Photofacial?

Almost anyone makes a good candidate for an IPL photofacial.Your Rejuve Med-Spa may adjust your treatment schedule or intensity if you have darker skin tones. IPL is a gentle, non-invasive way to address stubborn pigmentation issues for most people.
