Facial wrinkles are caused by many factors, one of which is animated facial expressions. Botox® is one of the best treatments to address dynamic wrinkles, but the amount needed depends on the area you are treating and your personal goals.
What is Botox®?
Botox®, a form of botulinum toxin, is an injectable solution that temporarily blocks nerve signals to stop specific muscles from contracting. The toxin has been rigorously tested over many years, and the small dosages used in cosmetic injections are perfectly safe.
While the nerve signals are blocked, the dynamic wrinkles slowly decrease, lessening signs of aging. The experienced technicians at Rejuve Med-Spa provide safe and effective injections for every patient.
How Many Units of Botox® Do I Need?
Most patients require four units per injection site. The forehead typically requires five injections of Botox®, but some patients may need more or fewer depending on their concerns.
Most treatments only require 15-30 units; however, lines between the brows or ‘11’s’ can require up to 40.More minor concerns, such as crow’s feet, may only need 6-10 units.
A patient may receive up to 50-100 units of Botox® per session. We typically recommend lesser dosages to allow for a more natural appearance.
Baby Botox® is often used as a preventative treatment using only ten units to stop dynamic wrinkles from forming. We recommend people in their mid to late 20s receive baby Botox®; starting too early can cause some levels of immunity to its effects.
How Long Does Botox® Last?
Botox® longevity varies from patient to patient. Most patients see results appearing within a week and lasting 3-4 months. For some patients, treatment may last 5-6 months. Ongoing treatments allow for longer-lasting results.
How Many Botox® Treatments Do I Need?
Most patients require treatments four times a year. After continuous treatments, most patients see results lasting longer as the muscles are weakened and trained to avoid contracting. Some patients may only require maintenance treatments twice a year.
Should I Get Botox®?
Botox® provides a non-surgical treatment option for problematic wrinkles causing you to appear older than you are. If you struggle with dynamic wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, eyebrows, and mouth, you may be a good candidate for Botox® injections.
