What is PRP Microneedling?
PRP microneedling is a combination of two treatments. The first is microneedling, which at Rejuve Med Spa is delivered with SkinPen®, the only FDA-cleared microneedling device. It creates channels in the skin that allow PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to penetrate deeply into your skin. PRP triggers an accelerated healing process that helps your skin make more collagen and brings new, healthier ckin cells to the surface.
How Does PRP Microneedling Work?
Your PRP microneedling treatment includes your provider collecting a small sample of your blood. They will spin this blood in a centrifuge and extract the layer of plasma that separates. This layer is full of platelets that carry repair and growth factors to the sites of injuries or damage.
Microneedling creates tiny channels that allow PRP to reach the deep layers of the dermis. The platelets speed healing, increase cellular activity, and boost your microneedling results. PRP is also used for hair restoration and in medicine to help heal joint, muscle, and tendon injuries.
How Often Should I Get PRP Microneedling?
Each person’s skin responds differently to PRP microneedling. You may benefit from a series of treatments to achieve your best results. Results can become noticeable within a few weeks, but full results take up to three months to develop as new collagen develops in your skin.
You can expect your results to last up to a year, with many people scheduling annual maintenance sessions to keep their skin firm and rejuvenated. What Should I Expect After PRP Microneedling?
You can return to most of your usual activities after PRP microneedling. Your skin will look red and feel sensitive for up to a few days, although the PRP will help it heal more quickly. We can recommend gentle, non-irritating products to use on your skin while it heals, including an appropriate sunscreen you should wear consistently.
Am I a Good Candidate for PRP Microneedling?
Because PRP uses your own blood, it is safe for almost anyone. Good candidates for this treatment should be in good health and have reasonable expectations. Candidates often have concerns about skin firmness, texture, and tone but want a treatment option with minimal downtime.
