What Does a Photo Facial Do?

Sun damage, redness, and other discoloration can make your skin look blotchy or uneven. A Photo Facial is a gentle, effective way to address skin issues like hyperpigmentation. This skin-rejuvenating treatment leaves your skin looking dramatically younger and brighter.

What is a Photo Facial?

A Photo Facial is a non-invasive treatment that uses pulses of broadband light. A Photo Facial uses a broad spectrum that can target red and brown pigmentation. The Harmony® XL uses advanced fluorescence to target pigments. A Photo Facial is non-invasive and gentle to your skin while providing superior results.

What Does a Photo Facial Do?

A Photo Facial uses wavelengths of light absorbed by pigment molecules in your skin. These molecules damage the cells containing the pigments, allowing them to be eliminated from your body. While most lasers can treat dark spots or red discoloration but not both, a Photo Facial can treat multiple skin concerns in a single treatment. As the pigments disappear from your skin, you will notice a brighter, more youthful appearance.

We recommend Photo Facials to treat many skin issues, including:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Dark spots
  • Redness
  • Broken capillaries
  • Enlarged pores

A Photo Facial can improve age-related pigmentation concerns, hyperpigmentation or redness caused by acne, or frustrating, hard-to-treat rosacea. Your skin will look more youthful and refreshed, free from many years of environmental damage.

Is There Any Downtime After a Photo Facial?

You can return to your usual activities with no downtime after a Photo Facial. You may notice that your skin looks flushed for up to a few hours. Treating different concerns may result in more redness than others. You can gently apply and remove makeup immediately after treatment. Use quality skincare products and consistent sun protection to maintain your even skin tone.

How Many Photo Facial Treatments Will I Need?

You may see some improvements in your skin after your first treatment. Most people need a series of three to six sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Your dark spots and redness will fade more after each treatment. Results may continue to improve for a few weeks after your last session.

Depending on the cause of your pigmentation issues, some may return over time. You may need occasional maintenance treatment, especially if you are prone to concerns like broken capillaries. Since Photo Facials are quick and require no downtime, maintaining your glowing, even-toned skin takes very little effort.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Photo Facial?

A non-invasive Photo Facial is safe for most people. Healthy adults with reasonable expectations make the best candidates. This treatment is an excellent option for those who want to eliminate skin concerns without recovery time or unpleasant post-treatment effects.

You should not have this treatment if you have recently had a lot of sun exposure or artificial tanning, used retinol products, or tend to form abnormal scars. Photo Facials must be used with care on darker skin tones.
