How Long After Microneedling Can I Wear Makeup?

There is no shortage of treatments available to reverse the signs of aging. You will do everything you can to banish wrinkles and stop your skin from sagging or drooping. At Rejuve, we regularly perform microneedling collagen induction therapy as a method for treating wrinkles and aging skin. It’s shown to be extremely effective, while also being minimally invasive.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is the process of using a special device to create multiple puncture wounds in your skin. At Rejuve, we use the SkinPen®, which is a revolutionary tool containing many tiny needles. When applied to your face, the needles make very small holes, triggering your skin’s natural defense system. It encourages blood flow to the area, encouraging collagen and elastin to be produced, so the microscopic wounds can be healed. By doing this, the increased collagen and elastin production continues to provide benefits for your skin. They add more firmness to it, more elasticity, and this can iron out your wrinkles.

Microneedling AfterCare and Makeup Application

Following this treatment, there will be a slight recovery period as your skin will be quite red and sensitive. It will look and feel like a sunburn, so it shouldn’t stop you from doing most of your daily tasks. The effects will subside after around 4 days, though there are some aftercare tips to keep in mind.

Apply sunscreen religiously for at least 2 weeks after microneedling, protecting your raw skin from the sun. It’s also advised that you avoid direct contact with the sun during this time. It’s also crucial that you don’t apply makeup to your face for at least 24 hours after the appointment. The exact time it takes for your skin to heal and be ready for makeup depends on the patient, but a period of 1-3 days is normally left before returning to your usual makeup routine.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is a brilliant non-surgical treatment for facial rejuvenation. By forcing your body to react to micro-injuries, you naturally start producing more collagen and elastin. This means your skin can be smoother, firmer, and much healthier. You achieve this without needing to use any chemical solutions or by wasting money on topical creams that rarely work.

Furthermore, you start seeing results almost immediately, and they progressively get better over the next few months. After three treatments, you will see the optimal results and can maintain them with as little as one annual session! Microneedling is also shown to help reduce acne scarring or stretch marks, leaving you with a clear complexion.

Am I a Candidate for Microneedling Treatments?

If you suffer from skin sensitivity or break out in rashes quite often, microneedling might not be suitable for you. Other than that, it’s a treatment that suits a wide range of candidates. If you want to get rid of wrinkles, improve your complexion, and just generally rejuvenate your skin, you should consider microneedling. It’s also possible to combine this with other cosmetic treatments, though you can discuss this during your consultation.
