The number of laser tattoo removal treatments you need depends on a variety of factors, including skin type, laser type, and the colors and size of the tattoo. Most patients require between five and fifteen sessions, spaced six weeks apart. However, this is just a rough guide. Some may need more, others less.
What is Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal is a type of corrective treatment that uses lasers to break down tattoo ink in skin layers so that the body can remove and dispose of it.
Without treatment, tattoo ink remains in the skin long-term because the body’s immune system doesn’t have a method to remove it.
Lasers use a focused pulse of energy in order to break up large ink globules into chunks that are small enough for the body to break down. Over time, shattered particles enter the lymphatic system, and the body disposes of them.
Rejuve Med-Spa uses a Q-Plus C laser a state-of-the-art device that produces a variety of wavelengths to hit black, blue, red, orange, green, and light blue inks. We also use Optibeam Technology, a special feature that ensures that we target the entire tattoo, leaving no part untouched.
Laser tattoo removal is far more advanced than in the past. Modern devices can target multiple ink colors and remove tattoos without painful or invasive interventions.
How Many Sessions Will I Need To Remove a Tattoo?
Most patients who come to Rejuve require somewhere between five and fifteen sessions to remove their tattoos. We recommend you wait at least six weeks between treatment to give the body sufficient time to process the shattered ink particles and dispose of them. You should begin to notice results in the weeks following the first session. However, please note that everyone is different and that improvements will vary.
In general, dark colors are easier to remove than lighter ones. Thus, if you have a black or dark blue tattoo, you may be able to get rid of it entirely in just a handful of sessions. Light blues, greens, purples, yellows, whites, and other pastel colors take longer to remove. However, modern laser technology is far superior to how it was in the past, meaning you will likely require fewer treatment sessions.
If you have recalcitrant tattoos, you can take advantage of Rejuve’s Q-Plus laser to remove those too. These are tattoos you previously tried to remove via other methods, but that didn’t fade completely. Removing them is difficult, but usually possible with the right laser technology.
Am I a Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?
If you have a tattoo you regret getting and want to remove it, you could be a good candidate for laser tattoo removal. Remember, tattoo removal technology is much more effective compared to the past. Today, it works against most inks.
