Can I Get Botox® and Dermal Fillers at the Same Time?

Botox® and Juvéderm® have been the two most popular cosmetic enhancement treatments in the nation for years. At Rejuve Med-Spa, we offer both, and our highly trained injection specialists are available to answer all your questions, including if Botox® and Juvéderm® can be administered together.

What’s the Difference Between Neuromodulators and Fillers?

Botox® and dermal fillers are often used interchangeably but address different aesthetic concerns. Botox® is a neuromodulator that works by blocking nerve receptors and controlling muscle movement. Frowns, scowls, and smiles result in forehead wrinkles, brow furrows, and crow’s feet because the skin, over time, doesn’t bounce back as quickly. Botox® blocks these nerves, preventing muscles from moving as much, giving your skin a chance to repair itself. Wrinkles fade and new ones aren’t permitted to form. Botox® can even be used around the mouth to correct a gummy smile and minimize movement that deepens nasolabial folds.

The Juvéderm® line of dermal fillers are gels made of hyaluronic acid (HA) molecules, which the body naturally produces to provide nutrients, and hydration to the skin. These gels are used to fill in wrinkles and hollows near the eyes, folds and lines around the mouth and nose, and add volume to cheeks and lips. They also restore the overall shape of your face from shifts gravity imposes on the tissues. The right Juvéderm® filler for you depends on your goals and treatment area you’re perfecting.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Most everyone tolerates both Botox® and Juvéderm® fillers well. A complete consultation at Rejuve Med-Spa can help you decide the best combination of these injectables for your aesthetic concerns.

Can I Get Botox® and Dermal Fillers Together?

Absolutely, you can get Botox® and Juvéderm® at the same time. They rely on different principles to treat lines, folds, and wrinkles. Botox® prevents muscle contraction while Juvéderm® redistributes volume and plumps tissues. In fact, the combination of the two treatments can achieve more natural, beautiful results than each of them apart.

When used around the mouth, they work together to prolong both injectables’ effects. The mouth is the most active area of the face, and the more movement there is, the faster the body metabolizes them. By treating with both injectables, movement is restricted and volume is added to fill hollows and diminish wrinkles. Less movement extends the life of the gel, which also smooths wrinkles away for longer, requiring fewer treatments over time. Both treatments can transform your face from forehead to chin.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

With Botox®, the results take 7-10 days to fully settle. Results with Juvéderm® are immediately visible. There is a period of “settling” of the gel, but within 14 days, both injectable treatments work in concert to restore your youth and vitality.
