How Does PRP Help Fine Lines and Wrinkles?

|

Over-the-counter creams and serums promise to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and while they may work to a degree, your body has something better. Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is one of the most effective ways of combating these first signs of aging. Let Rejuve Med-Spa unleash the power of your body’s own aging resistance with PRP treatments.

How Does Platelet-Rich Plasma Work?

While PRP is great for hair restoration, it’s also incredible for improving fine lines and wrinkles. How? Platelets. When you suffer small injuries to your skin, platelets clot to stop any bleeding and release growth factors to signal tissue regeneration, including increased collagen and hyaluronic acid production. Collagen adds support to new skin and hyaluronic acid nourishes and hydrates, while at the same time, the growth factors stimulate skin cells to divide, creating new, younger, healed skin. These growth factors also improve circulation and remove damaged skin cells.

The PRP treatment process begins with a withdrawal of blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich plasma from red and white blood cells. At this stage, plasma contains a higher concentration of tissue rejuvenating platelets. The PRP is then injected near fine lines and wrinkles. This isn’t a cover-up procedure designed to temporarily hide skin imperfections. The skin is genuinely rejuvenated by the platelets’ healing process, and new skin is formed to replace wrinkled, dried skin damaged by time, the sun, and other factors.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Are you concerned about fine lines and wrinkles? Would you benefit from improved skin texture, tone, and color with little recovery time? PRP treatments may be just the thing for you. Patients with dark circles or under-eye puffiness, fine lines around the mouth, cheeks, and eyes, or a gaunt look thanks to significant weight loss or volume loss in the cheeks or temples can all benefit from PRP treatments. If you have none of these yet but want to prevent them, PRP treatments can help you preserve your existing collagen structure and hyaluronic acid levels. Because PRP comes from the patient’s own blood, the risk factors are incredibly low, making it a well-tolerated treatment for most people.

Treatment and Results

There are two ways PRP can be applied to your skin to fight fine lines and wrinklesOur expert injection technicians can directly inject the PRP into the dermis where your wrinkles reside. Over time, your wrinkles will fill in with new skin tissues. The other method is applying PRP after microneedling treatment. These micro-injuries will not only have the benefit of newly healing skin stimulated by the dermaroller itself, but the addition of PRP boosts the healing process. Microneedling with PRP is often done for larger areas, such as the décolletage or arms.

Typically, numbing cream is applied to your treatment area for each of these methods to make patients as comfortable as possible. On average, 3-6 treatments over a 2-3 month period are recommended.

Rejuve Med-Spa’s opulent atmosphere is the perfect place to refresh tired, sallow, or dry and wrinkled skin. Rejuvenate your mind and body with PRP treatments for a better, smoother, younger complexion. You deserve it.
