PRP for Hair Restoration and Plumping

Is Thinning or Receding Hair Messing With Your Head?

A full head of luxurious, soft hair is very much associated with youth, beauty, and vitality, so when thinning hair becomes noticeable, it leaves insecurities in place of our stolen confidence. But patients don’t have to live with thinning or receding hair any longer. PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, stimulates hair growth and slows hair loss for an effective method of fighting this creeping sign of aging. Rejuve Med Spa’s superior customer service, opulent and relaxing atmosphere, and state-of-the-art technology make us the natural choice in elite hair restoration or PRP plumping treatments in the Dallas area.

How Does PRP Work?

The way PRP works to restore hair is a 3-step process. First, your blood is drawn, typically from your arm as with many other medical tests or procedures. Next, the blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the components—blood cells, platelet-poor plasma, and platelet-rich plasma—for the PRP extraction. Last, we inject the extracted PRP into your scalp where your hair is thinning.

Growth factors in the PRP begin to take over. Stem cells are stimulated to reverse any miniaturization of existing hair follicles. The hair you have is encouraged to maintain robust growth. PRP also promotes new follicles to form by increasing collagen and keratin production, which is the building block of the hair cuticle. The results are thicker hairs, an increase in the number of hair follicles, and improved blood flow for a more fertile scalp for the hair to continue to grow.

The same growth factors that improve thinning and receding hair conditions may also improve facial contouring. PRP injections are also indicated for rejuvenating volume loss, and skin texture and tone, as well as minimizing fine lines and wrinkles through the platelets’ natural healing properties.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Because PRP only stimulates existing hair follicles and places in the scalp where new growth is possible, good candidates for PRP hair restoration therapy must have some hair growth treatment zone. Bald spots are not effectively treated by PRP restoration.

Patients seeking facial rejuvenation are candidates for PRP therapy for aesthetic concerns such as skin hydration, volume loss, or texture and tone issues. During your initial consultation, tell the doctor of any medications you’re taking. Some conditions, such as platelet dysfunction syndromes or hemodynamic instability prohibit effective PRP treatments. Patients with certain histories or those using blood thinners may have disqualifying factors.

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Last?*

PRP treatments take around 30 minutes. Patients typically require three sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments recommended thereafter. The procedure is only as painful as injections typically are, and we offer our patients numbing cream over the injection site to minimize discomfort.

How Quickly Will I See Results?*

The first notable result is a reduction in shedding, followed by improvement in hair texture and thickness within two weeks of the initial appointment. However, the full scale of hair regrowth and thickening aren’t typically measurable until approximately 3-6 months into the treatment.

Is There Any Downtime?

Because the PRP injection is extracted directly from the patient, there’s little chance of an adverse reaction. While the treatment area may be tender, swollen, or reddened immediately following your session, it shouldn’t prohibit normal activities. It’s wise to avoid exercise for a few days to allow the area to heal, but there is virtually no downtime associated with PRP treatments.
