What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Is There any Downtime With Laser Skin Resurfacing?

With the Pixel laser, you can expect some redness and swelling for one to three days. Your skin will spend the next five to seven days peeling. You can resume most activities within a day or two after treatment, but you may want to avoid social situations while your skin recovers. Your healing skin will be highly sun-sensitive, so follow all instructions about avoiding sun exposure and protecting your skin while it heals. 

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

Pixel is a fractional laser, which means it only targets a small fraction of the skin’s surface area to allow faster healing. The laser creates microscopic channels into the skin, penetrating only about as deep as a few sheets of paper. The tiny channels trigger collagen development and the growth of new skin cells. As the old, dull layers of skin peel away, you will see newer, more radiant skin cells that have come to the surface. 

How Many Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments Will I Need?

We assess the number of laser skin resurfacing treatments you may need based on your skin concerns. We recommend three to four sessions for pigmentation and skin texture issues. Lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scarring may require up to five. We will schedule your sessions three to four weeks apart.
