How Often Should You Get a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are one of the oldest skin treatments in the dermatology industry. They come in a variety of types, each one targeting different skin problems. Rejuve Med-Spa has many chemical peels dedicated to treating various conditions, and there’s sure to be one that’s perfect for you.

A chemical peel typically comes in different strengths, which can impact how often you should get one. During your consultation with a Rejuve Med-Spa expert, you’ll learn how the different peels work and how frequently you can use them.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is considered a non-invasive facial procedure. You may be worried about the term’ chemical,’ but nothing harmful is used at all. These peels are specially designed solutions applied to your face, where the different chemicals get to work on your skin. There are three types of chemical peels:

  • Light peels
  • Medium Peels
  • Deep peels

The deeper the peel, the further the chemicals go into your skin, providing more benefits. Following the treatment, you will see a peeling phase where your top layers of skin peel away to reveal younger and clearer skin underneath.

Chemical Peel Schedule

How often should you get a chemical peel? It depends on the strength of your peel, and here are the typical schedules for each option:

Light Peels

A light chemical peel is referred to as superficial as it only targets the outer layer of your skin. This is useful in treating a range of different skin problems; it is most commonly used for wrinkles and acne treatment.

There’s not much recovery time for these treatments, meaning you can have one every 2 to 5 weeks. The precise frequency depends on what results you’re looking for.

Medium Peels

The second type of chemical peel goes deeper than a light one and enters your skin’s middle layer. This means it can attack some of the more longer-lasting skin issues you’ve faced for many years. It’s highly popular when used to treat acne scarring and uneven skin tones.

We don’t recommend that patients have a medium peel as frequently as a light one due to how deep it goes. You need a longer time to recover, and the results will be better after just one treatment. For these reasons, you only need one every 3 to 9 months.

Deep Peels

Finally, a deep chemical peel goes all the way down into the lower layers of your skin. This is only used in specific situations – such as very deep wrinkles, scars, and so on. You should only have one deep peel performed – it can’t be done again.

Benefits of Chemical Peels

A chemical peel can provide you with the following benefits:

  • Make your skin look younger by reducing the signs of aging
  • Get rid of stubborn lines or wrinkles
  • Enjoy a clear complexion by removing scars and marks
  • Smoother-looking skin

What’s more, you will enjoy these benefits without any invasive procedures at all. Getting a chemical peel can be quite relaxing, and no needles are involved. More information will be gained at your consultation with Rejuve Med-Spa.
