Can Laser Tattoo Removal Get Rid of My Tattoo Completely?

Your reasons for wanting to remove your tattoo are your own. Our job is to help you with laser tattoo removal. This laser treatment fades tattoos over several treatments until it becomes nearly or entirely unnoticeable.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

When you get a tattoo, your artist places ink into the deep layers of the skin where it will not rise to the surface. This ink is made up of pigment molecules that provide color. Laser tattoo removal uses laser energy to target these pigment particles. They absorb the laser energy and break into smaller pieces that your body can remove. Over time, this treatment may eliminate your tattoo.

Can Laser Tattoo Removal Get Rid of My Tattoo Completely?

At Rejuve Med-Spa, we can successfully eliminate most tattoos. In some cases, you may still see some traces of your tattoo, but these will be faded and hard to notice. Several factors affect your tattoo removal, including:

  • The age of your tattoo (older tattoo ink rises closer to the surface)
  • The colors in your tattoo (darker colors fade more quickly)
  • The quality of your tattoo (professional tattoos are harder to remove)
  • How fast your immune system clears away the pigment particles
  • Your body’s reaction to treatment

Not all tattoos will disappear completely. However, all will fade dramatically, and most will become nearly impossible to see. With enough treatment sessions, almost all inks can be erased. Your Rejuve Med-Spa team will discuss what you can expect and how many treatments you may need to see your desired results.

How Many Laser Tattoo Treatments Will I Need?

The number of laser tattoo treatments you need varies depending on your tattoo. Professional tattoos usually take five to fifteen sessions to fade completely. Amateur or poorly done tattoos may take less than five sessions. A small tattoo in blank ink may only take a few sessions, while a large, detailed piece with intense colors will take much longer.

Is There Any Downtime After Laser Tattoo Removal?

Since the laser generates heat as it breaks up pigments, you will experience some redness and sensitivity for several days after treatment. Many people also notice minor crusting and flaking. Keep the area clean with a gentle, unscented cleanser, and avoid touching crusted spots. The laser will make your skin extremely sun-sensitive, so avoid excess exposure and wear sunscreen between and after tattoo removal.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?

Almost anyone with a tattoo makes a good candidate for laser tattoo removal. Ideal candidates have reasonable expectations and understand the removal process. You may not be a good candidate for laser tattoo removal if you have certain immune system problems since your immune system clears the broken pigment molecules away. You should not have treatment if you have an active skin condition, irritation, or infection in the treatment area.

I am currently undergoing a series of laser treatments with Kinsey and I couldn’t be more pleased. She is professional and always sets me at ease. I highly recommend Rejuve.
