Skin texture refers to the state of the skin’s surface. You likely have uneven skin texture if you struggle with bumpy, rough, flaky, or acne-prone skin. Uneven skin texture is entirely normal, and its most common causes include hyperpigmentation, acne, sun damage, dryness, or excess oil. Acne affects up to 50 million people in the United States annually, making it one of the most common skin concerns.
These skin issues can lead to skin texture because they often cause a buildup of dead cells. Dead skin cells can contribute to the feeling or appearance of uneven skin texture, as well as clogged pores, which can cause breakouts.
Acne breakouts can lead to inflammation, further contributing to texture and bumpiness. When acne causes damage deep within the skin, the skin may create excess collagen, which can cause raised scars, or too little collagen, which may cause a pitted scar. Both of these scarring types can contribute to uneven skin texture. Uneven skin texture is not untreatable, and at Rejuve Med-Spa, we aim to help you eliminate your skin concerns with innovative technology, a luxurious environment, and quality care.
At Rejuve Med-Spa, we utilize the SkinPen® for microneedling treatments. Microneedling with SkinPen® technology is a safe and effective treatment for common cosmetic concerns, including skin texture and acne scarring. Microneedling sessions are about an hour, and treatment requires little downtime.
The initial results of microneedling can last for approximately six months following your last treatment. Repeated treatments with microneedling can enhance your results and usually result in continued improvements as collagen and elastin production continues. Regular treatments can provide long-term, dramatic improvements in skin texture and acne scarring. We sometimes recommend incorporating platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into your treatment for maximum results.
Pixel Skin Resurfacing can address several skin concerns that contribute to uneven skin texture, including sun damage, acne scarring, wrinkles, and pockmarks. Similarly to microneedling, the Pixel fractional laser is an ablative treatment that creates micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production. The Pixel laser does this through thermal energy, making it a great alternative to microneedling for clients uncomfortable with needles.
Treatment is non-invasive and can be effective for all skin types. Laser skin resurfacing can provide more dramatic and longer-lasting results. Most clients can see improved results with several treatments. The results of Pixel Skin Resurfacing can last for years.
Fibroblasts are cells located in the dermis layer of the skin that contribute to the production of collagen in the body. Plasma fibroblast therapy targets these cells to treat concerns such as acne scarring, seborrheic keratosis, and wrinkles for smoother skin.
Treatment does require some downtime while the skin restores, usually about one week. You may notice improvements within the first few days after treatment and continued improvements in the texture and tone of your skin for up to a year.
